WATERLOO — Leila Mae Bledsoe Carr, 92, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Laurel Park Nursing Home in Stockbridge. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born Feb. 12, 1917, in Tift County to the late Joseph Quincy Bledsoe and Mary Adeline “Molly” Bledsoe, Mrs. Carr was also preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Lee Carr, who died May 6, 1993; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Eva and Newton Tanner, Artie and Jack Carr, and Alice Booker and F. B. Bethea; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Delia Bledsoe, John and Dorothy Bledsoe, Dawson and Faye Bledsoe and Woodrow Bledsoe.
Mrs. Carr was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed quilting and sewing. Mrs. Carr would bake with her granddaughters with much patience, passing along her ability to them.
Mrs. Carr is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Josephine and Harry Cornwall of Tifton, Mary Ann and Oswell Maxwell of Monticello, Fla., Shirley and Leo Zins of Tifton and Linda and Ken Fleener of McDonough; her grandchildren, Michael and Kim Cornwall, Mitchell Cornwall, Kim and Jon Baker, Brian and Laurie Maxwell, Kristy and Michael Parker, Jon Maxwell, Beth and Jimmy Garrett, Danny and Pam Haire, David Haire, Michelle and Michael Gorra, and Melissa Santa-Cruz; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
