Sue Grantham

CHULA — Sue Virginia Branch Grantham, 85, of Chula died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder Ronny Webb and Elder Lee Chambers will officiate with burial to follow at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Grandsons, Bret Henderson, Cliff Henderson, Bobby Lawrence, Harley McGriff, Buck Grantham, Doug Lane, Chas Stewart and Dan Matthews will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Grantham was born Dec. 17, 1923 in Chula and was the daughter of Jehu Branch and Minnie Phelps Branch, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Grantham; three brothers, Horace Branch, Virgil Branch and Cooper Branch; and four sisters, Gussie Alsobrook, Odie Shiver, Athlene Wolfe and Maggie Reinhardt. She was retired from Big Star Foods, Inc. and was a member of Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church. She was a member of the 5-C Club and the Golden Agers.

Mrs. Grantham is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Kim Grantham of Chula; three daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and Ray Henderson of Tifton, Harriet Lawrence of Tifton and Charlie Ann Lane of Colquitt; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Brad Mathis, Paula Jones, Donna and Jackie Williams, Doug and JoAnn Lane, Bobby Lawrence, Julie and Dan Matthews, Bret and Lindsay Henderson, Cliff and Carman Henderson, Harley and Betsy McGriff, Buck and Sarah Grantham and Chas Stewart; 18 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Tift Area or Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery fund. You may express online condolences to the family at www.bowen-donaldson.com. Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
