Lynn Walker Sanford

FITZGERALD — Lynn Walker Sanford, 60, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor Kurt Smith and the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Sanford was born March 16, 1949 in Wilcox County to the late John C. and Lessie Mae Hunter Walker. Graduating from Wilcox County High School in 1967, she had lived in Ben Hill and Wilcox counties all of her life. Mrs. Sanford was executive director of the Housing Authority of Fitzgerald where she had worked since 1981. She was a member of the Georgia Housing and Redevelopment Association and was a board member for the Adult Literacy and Family Connections. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County.

She is survived by her children, Shannan D. (Jason) Walker of Lenox and Clay (Wendy) Dorminy of Adel; grandchildren, Alex Dorminy, Carah Dorminy, McKenna Dorminy, Reese Akins, Acy Dorminy, Summer Walker, John Henry Walker and Olivia Walker; fiancé, Mike Biggers of Fitzgerald; sisters, Sue Adkinson of Fitzgerald, Shelby (Warren) Tanner of Jacksonville, Fla., June (Don) Morris, Carol (Harold) McKie and Judy (Arnie) Nelms, all of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. Sanford; four brothers; two sisters; and two infant brothers.
