Jeanette Southall

VALDOSTA — Jeanette Southall, 85, of Valdosta died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 in South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Music Funeral Services with Pastor John Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Music Funeral Home in Valdosta.

She was born in Berrien County on June 2, 1924 to the late Joseph and Alice Lewis Mathis. She was a resident of Lakehaven Nursing Home in Valdosta, and had lived in Berrien County and Lowndes County all of her life. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Valdosta. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Leon Warren; five sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Frank Southall Jr. of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Hodges of Tifton; sons and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Faye Warren of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; Herbert Warren of Valdosta; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Diana and George Wheeler of Clarksburg, W.Va.; stepsons and daughters-in-law, David and Jan Southall of Beaver Dam, Va., Donnie and Catherine Southall of Valdosta; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Idell and Wilbur Ridgon of Nashville and Vernell Myers of Lakeland; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Diane Wheeler, Dr. Lori Wentland and Donna Starling, all of Valdosta.
