John Wetherington

NASHVILLE — Johnny Walter “John” Wetherington, 63, of Nashville died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lovein Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donnie Duncan and Phil Merwin officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville.

Mr. Wetherington was born June 16, 1946 in Bibb County to Sudie Lewis and the late Julian Wetherington. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Van Wetherington. He was a retired HVAC serviceman with the civil service at Moody Air Force Base. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church and was a Navy veteran of Vietnam.

In addition to his mother, Sudie Wetherington of Hahira, Mr. Wetherington is survived by his wife, Roberta Atkinson Wetherington of Nashville; daughter, Melissa “Bart” Nipert of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Jonathan, Anna and Catherine; and brother, Alan Wetherington of Adel.

Memorials are requested to the New Life Baptist Church building fund or the American Cancer Society. Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
