Irene Allen Wood

TIFTON — Irene Allen Wood, 78, of Sumner, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ty Ty First Baptist Church. Pastor Jim Duggan will officiate, with burial to follow at Ty Ty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Wood was born on March 18, 1931 in Sumner and was the daughter of Jessie Allen and Annie Lee Allen, both deceased. She was a homemaker and had lived in Sumner for 45 years.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband, Noah Lee Wood of Sumner; two sons, Emory Wood of Hortense and Robert Wood of Claxton; two daughters, Robbie Dodd and Angela Yawn, both of Sumner; one stepdaughter, Bennie Perry of Norman Park; one brother, Gene Allen of Tifton; four sisters, Carolyn Strickland of Tifton, Martha Jo Dillard of Tifton, Grace Cone of Tifton and Betty Daniel of Tifton; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
