TIFTON — Julius L. "Bud" Wilson, 66, of Tifton died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Kevin Bounds will officiate, with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
J.R. Osborne, Bum Nelson, Johnny Tawzer, Clay Hall, Dennis McAllister and Tim Simmons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Fallin, Bobby Boggus, Eddie McDonald Sr., Eddie McDonald Jr., Hal Owens, Don Broome, Eddie McDonald III, Dean McAllister, Danny Mauldin, Dunbar Hankinson, Troy Owens and Herman Evans.
Bud was born Aug. 18, 1943 in Tift County and was the son of Claude Brown Wilson and Mozelle Waldrop Wilson, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Creech Wilson; and one sister, Ann Wilson McAllister. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was retired from Shaw Industries as a supervisor. He served in the National Guard and had been actively involved in stock car racing for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame.
Bud is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Camille Wilson of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter and son-in-law, Caroleanne and Kenneth Conner of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Delaney Wilson, Liam Wilson, Misty Parsons and Alex Conner; one great-grandchild, Adaleigh Conner; his companion and care-giver, Dottie Evans and her children, Melissa Turner and Herman Evans; and a special friend, Bum Nelson.
