Roy Hayes

TIFTON — Roy James Hayes, 90, of Tifton died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals, with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Hayes was born on Jan. 4, 1920 in Cook County, and was the son of Frank Hayes and Mary Lee Lindsey Hayes, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rhudene Howell Hayes; one brother; and two sisters. He was a retired businessman and a member of Northside Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, Nadine Purvis Hayes of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Gerald Hawk of Birmingham, Ala.; one grandson and his wife, Jeffrey and Laura Hawk of Birmingham, Ala.; and three great-grandchildren, Judson Hawk, Jacob Hawk and Amelia Hawk, all of Birmingham, Ala.
