SUMNER —
Will Powers, 77, of Sumner died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Glen Fussell will officiate with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Allen Cason, Joe Mayes, John Powers, Ansley Pitts and Jackson Smith will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Chip Bowen, Brian Powers, Dennis Powers, John Bowen, Julian Rowe and David Rowe.
Mr. Powers was born on Oct. 10, 1935 in Tifton and was the son of John Washington Powers and Annie Laura Smith Powers, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Juanita Barton Powers, who died in 1996; a son, Eugene Powers; and a brother, Johnny Powers. He was retired, but was a painter for over 50 years. He was a member of Midway Church of God in Ocilla.
Mr. Powers is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Lassen Powers of Sumner; a son, Will James Powers of Brunswick; two daughters, Marie Bowen and Teresa Carmichael, both of Ocilla; a brother, Lewis Powers of Tifton; a sister, Laura Lavonne Rowe of Tifton; his daughter Marie’s mother, Laura Virginia Blankenship Powers of Tifton; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
