ALAPAHA —
John Keith Purvis, 73, of Alapaha, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alapaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Glory Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
He was born June 18, 1939 in Ocilla to the late Tally Leo Purvis and the late Lilly DeBerry. He was a retired auto mechanic and known as a "Mr. Fix It". He was a member of the Alapaha Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Othell Alexander Purvis of Alapaha; a daughter, Daphne (LaWayne) Taylor of Nashville; a son, Keith (Reejeana) Purvis of Alapaha; a sister, Jane Goodman of Alapaha; two brothers, Charles Purvis of Alapaha and Hughlon Purvis of Enigma; three grandchildren, Bryce Phillips, Kade Purvis and Ryder Taylor.
Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville, is in charge of arrangements.
