TIFTON — Doris Sumner Marchant, 90, of Tifton, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Marchant was born Dec. 27, 1919 in Colquitt County to John Henry Sumner and Rosa Lindsey Sumner, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Marchant, who died in 2000.
Mrs. Marchant was a housewife who enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She loved to read and go to yard sales and enjoyed collecting lamps.
Mrs. Marchant is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Donna Dotson of Tifton and Donald and Linda Dotson of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Kathy and Danny Boyd of Newnan and Cheryl and William Spratlin of Stockbridge; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace McMillan of Lakeland, Fla.

Concert to benefit breast cancer victims
The story of how cancer has had devastating effects on two women in one local family led a local musician to organize a benefit concert to be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cypress Grill at Lake Blackshear. Donations may be made at the door or online at the “Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure” Web site.
