RAY CITY — Otis Mitchell Shaw, 77, of Ray City, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Ray City. Burial will follow at the Shaw Family Cemetery. The Rev. John Evans Patten will officiate. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home, Nashville.
Mr. Shaw was born on Nov. 16, 1931 in Berrien County. He was the son of F.W.M. “Preacher” Shaw and Susie Rebecca Ray Shaw, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Shaw.
Mr. Shaw was a retired railroad engineer with civil service at Moody Air Force Base. He was a member of Nashville First Baptist Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Ray City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Harrell Shaw of Ray City; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and William Barker of Ray City; a son, Gary Shaw of Eldorado; two sisters, Latrelle Chisholm of Ray City and Lawanna Maples of Valdosta; and three grandchildren, Gary Mitchell Shaw Jr., Hue Barker and Abby Barker.
Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Concert to benefit breast cancer victims
The story of how cancer has had devastating effects on two women in one local family led a local musician to organize a benefit concert to be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cypress Grill at Lake Blackshear. Donations may be made at the door or online at the “Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure” Web site.
