Raymond Roy Kenney
TIFTON — Raymond Roy Kenney, 80, of Tifton, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Tifton. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with Dr. Danny Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Robert Setters, Mark Owens, Keith Dees, Fate Miller, Rob Brown and John Brown will serve as pallbearers.
Born June 17, 1929, in Hope Valley, R.I., to Everett Kenney and Ethel Graves Kenney, Mr. Kenney was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years at the time of her death in 2002, Mae Thompson Kenney, and four brothers.
Mr. Kenney was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He had lived in Tifton 46 years where he and his brother-in-law, John Morris, were co-owners of Kenney and Morris Roofing and Sheet Metal. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He had lived at Maple Court Assisted Living Facility since 2004. He enjoyed horseback riding and automobile racing. Mr. Kenney was a member of the Georgia Automobile Hall of Fame and a former member of the Tift County Saddle Club. He loved his only grandchild.
Mr. Kenney is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Glenn Doss of Tifton; one granddaughter, Marlissa Doss of Kennesaw; a beloved friend, Annette Sandifer of Brookfield, and her special family who made his life joyful; two brothers, Frederick Kenney of Rhode Island and Phillip Kenney of California; one sister, Virginia “Sally” Gibson of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
