Felton A. Purvis

LENOX — Felton A. Purvis, 71, of Lenox died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Purvis Funeral Home with Brother Joe Simpson and Brother Bobby Rowan officiating. Burial followed at Lenox Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were Terry Purvis, Greg Simmons, Kevin Wright, Rodney Myers, Tony Myers and Kenny Myers.

Honorary pallbearers were Maston Bennett, J. E. Bennett, Clarence Purvis, Bo Purvis, Leon Purvis, Joe Simmons, Billy Connell and Ronald Walker.

Music selections "Beulah Land,” "Old Rugged Cross," and "Thank You Lord For Loving Me" were sung by Jan Myers, pianist Anita Brown, and guitarist Charles Connell.

Mr. Purvis was born Jan. 13, 1938 to the late Allen and Bessie Conger Purvis.

Mr. Purvis was a carpenter before retiring and was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include Pat Purvis of Lenox; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Cathy Purvis of Nashville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carroll Purvis of Lenox, and Elmer and Lynn Purvis of Adel; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Harvey Castleberry of Adel, Lucy and Oklan Myers of Lenox and Lavern and Vernie Wright of Live Oak, Fla.; two grandchildren, Mark Purvis of Atlanta, and Sara Green of Catawba, N.C.; one great-grandson, Jake Green of Catawba, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Purvis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
