TIFTON — Virgil Dean Croy, 79, of Tifton died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Croy was born on Nov. 10, 1930 in Funston and was the son of William E. Croy and Tempie Matthews Croy, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Croy. He was retired from the United States Army and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was also a former member of the VFW.
Mr. Croy is survived by three sons, William Croy of Tifton, Thomas Croy of Valdosta and Guenther Virgil Dean Croy of Valdosta; one daughter, Caroline Croy of Tifton; two brothers, Bobby Croy of Tifton and Arthur Croy of Tallahassee, Florida; three sisters, Hazel Grimsley of Adel, Carolyn Stripling of Adel and Linda Baldree of Sparks; five grandchildren, Ashley Croy, Sarah Croy, John Croy, Whitney Croy and Lauren Croy; and one great-grandson, Jackson Croy.

Concert to benefit breast cancer victims
The story of how cancer has had devastating effects on two women in one local family led a local musician to organize a benefit concert to be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cypress Grill at Lake Blackshear. Donations may be made at the door or online at the “Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure” Web site.
