SYLVANIA — Janie Clyde Daughtry Davis, 88, of Sylvania, died Nov. 23, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sylvania First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Cooper and Josh Lanier officiating. Burial will follow at Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was a native of Screven County and was a homemaker. She was also a member of Sylvania First Baptist Church where she was a choir member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Davis; a son, Van Ruben Davis; and parents, Josh and Ellie Blackburn Daughtry.
Survivor include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Don Bowen of Tifton; sons and daughter-in-law, Glen T. Davis of Sylvania and Don G. and Margaret W. Davis of Cordele; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Concert to benefit breast cancer victims
The story of how cancer has had devastating effects on two women in one local family led a local musician to organize a benefit concert to be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cypress Grill at Lake Blackshear. Donations may be made at the door or online at the “Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure” Web site.
