Janie D. Davis

SYLVANIA — Janie Clyde Daughtry Davis, 88, of Sylvania, died Nov. 23, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sylvania First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Cooper and Josh Lanier officiating. Burial will follow at Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Mrs. Davis was a native of Screven County and was a homemaker. She was also a member of Sylvania First Baptist Church where she was a choir member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Davis; a son, Van Ruben Davis; and parents, Josh and Ellie Blackburn Daughtry.

Survivor include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Don Bowen of Tifton; sons and daughter-in-law, Glen T. Davis of Sylvania and Don G. and Margaret W. Davis of Cordele; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Remembrances may be made to Nightingale Hospice, 7 Allen-Cail Drive, Suite A, Statesboro, GA 30458 or to Sylvania First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 318, Sylvania, GA 30467. Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
