SYLVESTER — David C. Jones Sr., 81, of Sylvester died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Tempy Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Reincheld and Dr. Dan Williamson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Banks Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born Oct. 18, 1928 in Tempy Community in Worth County to the late Charles Sidney Jones Sr. and Margaret Maddux Jones. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Lowery; and three brothers, Gene, Ed and Charles S. Jones Jr. He was an attorney and businessman and had lived in Worth County all his life. He was a member of Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and in many other capacities.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Burke Jones of Sylvester, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary March 11; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David C. Jr. and Lane Jones of San Marcos, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law, Billy M. Jones of Marietta and R. Bruce and JoAnn Jones of Albany; sisters and brother-in-law, Elise Feuer of Atlanta, Maurice Reese of West Point, Rosa Margaret and Pete Mitchell of Brush, Colo., and Carol Hobby of Griffin; sister-in-law, Joyce Jones of Sylvester; brother-in-law, Glen T. Lowery of Warner Robins; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

Concert to benefit breast cancer victims
The story of how cancer has had devastating effects on two women in one local family led a local musician to organize a benefit concert to be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cypress Grill at Lake Blackshear. Donations may be made at the door or online at the “Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure” Web site.
