Rant and Raves for Nov. 15

Way to go

“Way to go Alisha Bassett! We are so proud of you. You are a wonderful teacher. It is a pleasure to work with you. As you noted...God placed you in this job. Your students and co-workers are blessed to be in your good company.”

Change it

“With the recent accident involving a police chief, isn't it time the law stating ‘emergency personal’ aren't required to wear their seatbelts be reevaluated and changed? If he had been wearing his seatbelt, he probably wouldn't have been ejected from his vehicle.”

Bad medicine?

“For the Chula expatriate-to-be, what country are you moving to? You do realize that most of the countries you're probably considering moving to have socialized medicine don't you? You may truly like it better. Let us know!”

What a treat

“WOW! What a musical treat was shared with Tifton Tuesday night as the ABAC Concert Band performed at Howard Auditorium under the direction of their new conductor Johnny Folsom. The repertoire was exciting and very appealing. Thank you ABAC band and welcome Johnny.”

Open discussion

“Georgia law permits school boards and other governmental bodies to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters but it certainly doesn't require closed meetings. A school board can discuss whatever it wants in open sessions.”

No prophet

“Yes, Mr. Korson, we fully understand that you are no prophet and one wonders why the subject even came up. Oh, wait, you brought it up.”
