Rant and Rave for Aug. 4

Friendly service

“I have been in a hurry to get out of the post office before too, but those ladies are so nice and make sure no one ever leaves forgetting something. I can guarantee you will get the warmest reception there (compared to) any other government office in town. Keep up the good work, ladies!”

Perspective

“I agree that Pete Rose should be in the baseball HOF, but it has nothing to do with Michael Vick. On the other hand, Vick has paid for his crimes but will continue to be punished by the NFL while players with Vehicular Homicides (DUI) will play the first game of this season. Vick's crimes need to be put into perspective.”

Work together

“We need to stop bickering and come together. It has taken 30 years, and in some cases 60 years,to get our country in this mess. A nanny state is coming if we do not stick together and take back our government.”

Outstanding effort

“Mr. Eugene Gilmore of Amy's RV Park was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from HHD 110th CSSB, Georgia National Guard for ‘your support of the HHD, 110th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. Your personal dedication, professionalism and generosity were instrumental in the support provided to the Nation's sons and daughters of the CSSB. Because of your efforts to this unit, they are better prepared to protect freedom abroad.’”

Great music

“A Rave to First Baptist Tifton for the wonderful Monday Night Live meetings during the month of July! We appreciated the great music and outstanding speakers!”

Still nothing

“Well, it has been over a year since the first rant about the lights on I-75. None seem to have been replaced! There are none working on the north. Why are people paying the tourism tax if it is not being used to maintain the lights that were purchased with that tax?”

A shame

“It's a crying shame that some people think that because they or their coworkers gave flowers or plants in honor or memory of a decedent, that such flowers/plants should go to them. Such become the property of the widow or widower. If they want to give them away, they will make the offer.”

Economy measure

“I wonder if the school system has considered starting school a week or two later and telling all teachers, administrators, etc to stay out of the buildings. That would save a significant amount of money on electricity considering August is the hottest month of the year.”
