Great job, Jean
“A RAVE to Mrs Jean Edwards and all the election location workers in Tift County who were the model of politeness and quickness in our recent voting. Looking at other states (Florida) and other local governments makes us all appreciate the professionals staff and volunteers who help our voting experience a pleasure here in Tift County—Thank You”
Hooray for gridlock
“Some say gridlock in congress for at least the next two years. The best thing for a congress like we have now is to just do nothing. Had we had gridlock in 2009, Obamacare would never have happened. And that would have been a good thing. Hooray for gridlock !!”
Offended parent
“As a parent of a Tift County High School student, I am offended at the lack of an official announcement from the superintendent’s office concerning the change in administration at the school. I’m certainly not asking for details, but a simple, professionally-worded announcement (both to parents and students) would have been appreciated. ”
See the irony?
“I just want to make sure I understand. Tift Regional is a non-profit, but it has about $64 million on hand. Tift Regional has more than enough collateral to cover their debt restructure, but they want the people of Tift County (who made that $64 million) to back the bonds. Doesn’t anyone see the irony of this?”
Please explain
“Dear Mr. Atwater, will you please explain your actions regarding Dr. Gravitt. It seems no one knows anything and rumors have spread from here to tim buck two. Reprimand where needed, but man up and explain to parents as well as concerned citizens and tax payers. It’s embarrassing that everyone is talking about a situation no one seems to know anything about.”

Letter to the Editor for May 15
As a grandson of Henry Harding Tift and a long-time resident of Tift County, I would like to tip my hat to Edd Dorminey for the pivotal role he played in petitioning the state legislature to officially recognize the original intent that Tift County be named in honor of Capt. Tift.

A day late and a dollar short...sort of
I caught a lot of flack the past couple of days because, and I quote, “You write a column and you didn’t write about your mom for Mothers Day?”Yeah. Um. Just yeah.
