Rants and Raves for March 10

Hats off

“Hats off to Mr. Vann Thornton for putting together the great fine arts shows last week at the PAC. Great to see all the terrific local talent. Who says there's nothing to do in Tifton!”

Congratulations,

ROTC

“I would just like to congratulate the TCHS JROTC for the wonderful job they did this past weekend in the state competition. I don’t think they get recognized enough for all the hard work they do. These are the next men and women to protect our country. All of you guys are awesome. Good luck in nationals.”

Cut the pie

“This is what is wrong: Everyone wants less government and lower taxes but no one wants their pie to be cut. The pie has to be cut for what we want, so let’s all buckle down and vote all incumbents out and start over with representatives that want to represent us instead of their personal agendas. The pie must be cut to get government out of our lives.”

Way to go

“I want to send a big congrats to Brooke Hancock for teacher for the year at Northeast Campus... Way to go.”

How dumb?

“How dumb is this??? Wonder how much it cost the taxpayer for the government to send out notices that the census forms would be sent out in the next few days. Or maybe it's just my imagination that the country is broke??”

Thanks to all

“We need a Rave for all of the local businesses that supported Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Georgia, Inc. in their annual Bowl for Kid's Sake. We had the second highest grossing BFKS ever and this will keep a wonderful, positive program on its feet for a while during some tough times. THANK YOU to all those that contributed!”

Starting point

“People look to the government to fund every aspect of American life, yet few days go by without somebody bemoaning the fact that we are becoming socialistic. If the state needs to cut back, the arts would seem to be a good place to start. It's important but is hardly an essential governmental service.”

Absolutely wonderful

“A huge Rave to Hollis Flanders, who took his time on a busy Friday to come to Tift Regional Medical Center to give my very sick husband a much-needed haircut. After he left us, he was going elsewhere to extend the same courtesy. Thanks, Hollis. Also, another Rave to Tift Regional Medical Center nurses and nurse extenders on the second floor medical/surgical unit. They are absolutely wonderful.”

Connections

“Man, you would think with all the high-falutin’ folks in Tift County, and all their state House and DOT connections in Atlanta, that y’all could get some of these roads fixed around here as well as a train overpass. I mean, evidently somebody in Cordele has got those connections and capabilities...”
