Your Opinion: Intrusions

CNHI

— There is an all-out assault on our America today. Those that are in charge of our government are intruding on our citizen's rights; divine and civil laws, freedom, property rights, national security and especially our faith. America is a Christian nation wrought by our forefathers; please leave it alone! If you don't like it, you have the freedom to leave; but not the liberty to change it. Don't criticize me for cherishing and defending our American way of life, including our Christian heritage. I love the America our founding fathers gave us and strongly reject the change advocated by a minority today. But the main problem with America is not so much our leaders, it's uninformed people electing them.

There are warnings in the Holy Scriptures and parallels to the paths we are heading down. In Psalms 11:3, If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? One parallel is in I Samuel chapter 8. God's people wanted an earthly king like other nations. My Dad used to tell me, "Be careful of what you ask, you may get it." People that have paid no price for their freedom and their way of life tend to place little or no value on them, especially if they have not been taught unadulterated history. America was founded on Christian principles granting certain inalienable rights given them by their Creator, and documented by the Holy Scriptures; principles based on faith. When we leave these principles, we will be like other nations.

For America to survive as a great nation, we need to return to our foundations and hold to our Constitution. Citizens need to strive for moral character, loyalty and truth. Government should be limited to it's being guardian of its citizens, and politicians should be simple servants guided by our Constitution. The Tiftarea Tea Party, a non-partisan local group of patriots, is presenting the American Heritage Series narrated by historian Dr. David Barton. It's an in-depth study of America heritage; the founding fathers, the reason America fought for independence, the process of conceiving our Constitution and delivering it, and the system of governing that has made us a great nation for 240 years. The series takes several months to complete showing one hour a week. It will be presented every Monday night at the Hilton Garden Inn from 7 to 8 p.m. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate; and there is no charge.

Some conservative leaders say America is involved in a reformation returning us to our heritage, I certainly hope so. But for it to last we have to get involved and be diligent. We can't depend on career politicians, they tend to take care of themselves; i.e., pay raises, free healthcare, lifetime hefty retirements, etc. The way I see it, the current crop has to be replaced. They are ignoring We The People! Solutions, not Revolution!
