The hard part
“Voting is just one part of your duty as a citizen. Now comes the most important part — holding elected officials accountable.”
Peace at last
“Now I can have an evening in peace and without interruptions from politicians and their celebrity friends. I wouldn’t mind so much if I had ever been included in one of the opinion polls that litter the election cycle like used tissues.”
Go Big Blue
“Go Big Blue! The game Friday night against Moultrie was great. It was tough, but you guys did it. We had a great support team. We’re proud of you guys. Charlie, way to go. Love our Blue Devils. Class of ‘81.”
What now?
“Now that the Democrats have control of Congress again, can gas prices go down and STAY down? Or will the Republicans find some way to blame it on the Democrats?”
Serious issues
“I too have a Rave for the City of Ty Ty for scheduling the Neighborhood Watch meeting on Nov. 14th! I sincerely hope a member of the Mid-South Task Force will be present as well as a reporter from the Gazette. We have some serious issues in Ty Ty, and I commend Mayor Beasley for trying to address them.”
We all benefit
“For the person comparing schools to a service business: Revisit economics and the concepts of private versus public goods. This is not a service you buy, but an effort the student and family must participate in, too. Society as a whole benefits from all its members being educated, thus America’s universal PUBLIC education.”
Which one?
“If public schools were able to ‘hand select’ the students that attend like private schools, then they would show more progress. But then again, some complain and do nothing to help others while others volunteer...which category do you fit in?”
Slow down
“I saw a wreck out on Brighton Road on Halloween night. As we stopped for the wreck, my son and I got out of the van and ran to make sure everyone was OK. A woman was hurt in the wreck. There was a truck going probably 65 or faster (that) almost hit my son and me while we were checking on the people that were in the wreck. He flew through the wreck like nothing happened, then he slammed on brakes and made sure he didn’t hit anything, then took off. He should have stayed there. Please slow down on Brighton Road and Tift Avenue.”
Enjoyable day
“Thanks, FFA, for a great farm day for students from Northside Primary School. Our children had a fun time learning about animals. It was well organized and we are looking forward to next year.”
Thanks for support
“I wanted to praise the following business for their support of the Veterans Day reception held at the Tifton Career Center on Nov. 9: ABAC, Ameris Bank, Burger King, Century 21, Colquitt EMC, First Community Bank, Ga. Dept. of Transportation, Holiday Inn, Moultrie Technical College, Orgill, Papa John’s, Piggly Wiggly, Quiznos, Shaw, Subway, South Ga. Bank, Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce, Tift Regional Medical Center, and Wal-Mart. Thank you for supporting the veterans in our community.”
