“Democrats take control of the House and Senate in January. Charlie Rangel will be chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. He says they, the Democrats, are going to hit the oil companies with a big-time tax increase so I am wondering how much consumers are going to enjoy eating crow when they pay more for gas at the pumps since they elected to put the Democrats back in control.”



Nice place

“I would like to give a huge rave for the Venus Grill. I have lived in Europe for nine years and have eaten in some of the finest restaurants that Europe has to offer and the Venus Grill is better than most of them. Not only is the food fantastic, but the restaurant itself is beautiful. Tifton is very fortunate to have such a nice place. ...Kudos to owner Tad and chef Blake.”



Halloween fun

“Ewing Nursing hosted over 60 children for the Halloween Festival. They had face painting, refreshments, goodie bags and the hay ride. The staff was dressed in costumes which made the event just that much more fun. At the end of the day, all the children left with a pumpkin. A huge thanks to Jason Ewing, the nursery owner, and manager, Nola Gentry.”

Support the ROTC

“I think we need more support for our high school ROTC program. These kids practice before school and after school to compete in drill meets all over and I rarely see any support for them. ...These kids have a great exhibition performance and it needs to be seen by all of Tift County. They will be holding their drill meet this Saturday the 18th starting at 8:30 a.m. and will continue the day until around 5 p.m. Schools from all over will be attending this meeting and Tift County ROTC needs your support.”
