This, I hope, is the beginning of a genealogy research journey via the newspaper that will lead my husband Foster Aubrey Hale to some of his Tifton relatives. Aubrey is the son of Frances Aubrey Hale and the grandson of Clinton Washington Hale. Both lived in Tifton before Aubrey was born. “C.W.,” as Clinton was called, moved to Tracy City, Tenn., prior to the ‘40s. We believe he was in the refrigeration business or studied that trade in school or worked in that business in Tifton. That was when families here used ice boxes to store groceries. When he moved to Tracy City he opened an ice plant that supplied ice to the city’s businesses and homes. We know nothing of Mr. Hale’s siblings or who his father or mother was. He married a Lela Carson, believed to be from Tifton. If anyone has information regarding this family please write P.O.
