Rant and Rave for September 7, 2008

Go, Nick

“Green gets the win. Nick Green picked up the win for the Salt Lake Bees, 13-10 over the Sacramento River Cats on Wednesday night in Game 1 of the Pacific Conference championship series. Go, Nick. We in Tifton are proud of you.”

Signs are too big

“Political yard signs are something we live with for short term. However, the larger signs, I hope that the city puts regulations on them next time, that they be kept to commercial areas. They’re nothing but a billboard. In fact, when a candidate has gazillions of signs, it appears desperate and they don’t get my vote.”

Welcoming church

“This is a Rave for Brighton Road Baptist Church at Exit 66 off 75. I went to church there recently and found the most loving and friendly group of people I have been around in a long time. The singing lifted my heart and the preaching was awesome. The church building is beautiful and creates a sense of peace. What a welcome addition to Tift County this new church is. Try it. You’ll like it.”

Just curious

“Tift County BOE has tough decisions. Saying Perdue is not involved by Mr. Scott is not exactly true. He’s the leader of the state and sets the tone for spending in other places. Has our BOE and our superintendent cut their pay in half? Perhaps giving it all back would be a good-faith effort to lead by example. Just curious.”

Lottery money?

“I’m just calling about the ‘Misplaced priorities.’ I believe they should try to get the money from the lottery. They make money with the lottery as they hold it, they draw interest. That would get plenty of tax money, it seems to me. That’s where the money should come from, the lottery.”
