Good news

from MTC

Congratulations to Moultrie Technical College on the establishment of its Remote Automation Management Project, a program to train students to operate and repair high-tech equipment used by manufacturers.

MTC administrators say this program is the first of its kind in the Southeast and is in use at only one other technical college nationwide. The school will work with eight area high schools, including Tift County High, to train students through a dual enrollment program.

Participants will learn how to design, integrate and manage automated production systems, making it possible for the Tifton area to offer skilled workers to high-tech companies.

With continued bad news on the economic front, this is a ray of hope for the future — one we hope to see succeed and expand.
