TIFTON —
Well appreciated
“This is a Rave for Dr. Kathren Gibbons, who recently retired from Affinity. She was a well appreciated doctor and we will miss her as well as her nurse Margaret. Thanks for being the best doctor I have ever had. You will be missed.”
Child abuse
“To ‘Be ashamed’: Apparently someone isn't watching the people entering the movies you talk about. Exposing a child to gratuitous nudity and sexually charged movies fits the definition for child molestation or abuse when someone knowingly subjects a child to such things. In this case, the theatre manager and the parents could theoretically be charged with some very serious crimes.”
Community service
“Thank you, Pleasant Grove, for the free dental services that you provided. Even though I didn’t get the service because there were a lot of people there and I had to go to work, I just want to say may God bless you all!”
Spirited display
“This is a HUGE rave to the Tift County marching band! It's been years since I've seen such an exciting, entertaining and downright wonderful display of spirit on Friday nights! Keep it up guys, you're doing great!”
Different varieties
“To the person who submitted an opinion about longleaf (pine trees) in the park: Not all of these trees are longleaf. Longleaf has a life span of 350-400 years. Leave ‘em alone; they are plenty beetle resistant. Thin out any slash pines if needed. I will gladly mark them!”
Way to go
“To the lady who was on the Today Show Aug. 28, thank you for representing us with your Tifton, Ga., sign and your pretty smile. I took a good picture of you. Way to go!”
Just imagine
“Imagine the worst and deadliest drug dealer lives in Tifton. In a crackdown by a coalition of police, deputies, GSP and the DEA, the dealer is never caught but sales become a trickle of what they were. Citizens start complaining about the tax dollars that are being spent when there’s little or no trouble. Then the head of the coalition says , ‘I promise we will withdraw from Tift County in 30 days and they will be on their own from then on.’ And they begin leaving immediately until all are gone. Promise kept. People cheer. Drug sales suddenly skyrocket and violence erupts. People are killed or injured or die from the drugs. But the promise was kept. Now, imagine this is Iraq and the 50,000 troops left behind as ‘advisers,’ not combat troops, are suddenly in harms way with little or no protection because a campaign promise was kept. Then imagine it's Afghanistan and it's announced we'll be out of there by July of next year.
