Your Opinion: The buck stops with the voters

CNHI

— James Garfield, the 18th President said, that Americans are responsible for the character of Congress. If the members are incompetent and corrupt, the buck stops with the voters who elected and re- elected them.

Americans must cease their apathetic ways and begin asking questions about the conduct of ALL political leaders. For example, in 2010 there were over 11,000 lobbyists in Washington, and they spend 3.5 billion dollars wining and dining Senators and Representatives.

Needless to say, the lob- byists gave huge campaign contributions to the mem- bers of Congress, and they

obtained the BEST LAWS THAT MONEY COULD BUY. Senators and Repre- sentatives did not consider the cost of each bill--getting re-elected is the name of the game played by Republican and Democratic members of Congress.

In future elections, voters must carefully evaluate the Democratic and Repub- lican candidates.

Always vote for the individual. Never vote for the principles of a political party--deceptive political tactic.

The glass of water is half-full and not half empty.
