Rant and Rave for Nov. 15

National sport

“The national sport of this country seems to be criticism of the government. Last time I looked we could still vote. We have met the enemy and he is us. If you vote the party line, you get what you asked for.”

Kindness

appreciated

“Many humble thanks to several who expressed their gratitude to my Air Force husband of 20 years as we dined in Tifton for lunch.  As with many in the military, he is quite modest (thus his persistent refusal of your offers to pay!), and does not see himself as a hero, but rather just doing his duty.  Nonetheless, your kindness truly fills our hearts.”

Out of line

“When Sheila Harris sent the note to the school that her daughter was not to go on the field trip, the principal and the assistant principal should not have called her on the day of the field trip. They should have accepted her decision for her daughter not to go on the field trip. It was the school's responsibility to accommodate anyone that did not go on the field trip. The school employees were way out of line and owe Mrs. Harris an apology.”

Where?

“If there is a recall petition for some of the members of city council, can someone tell us where it is so we can sign it?”

In the records

“Why blame only Lewis, Hetzel and Roosevelt for the CityNet mess. Jamie Cater was on the Council that started and approved the CityNet beginning and voted for it. Mrs. Keesee came to council meetings and urged the council to start CityNet.  It's in the records.”

Give teachers

a choice

“I think the teachers should have a choice of which fitness center they want to join and have payroll deducted. Something doesn't seem on the up and up here.”
