Rants and Raves for November 18

Well done

“A big rave for Len Lastinger School administration and teachers! I never realized how good they were with the children until my child started a new school. Thank you, Dr. Ezekiel, for a job well done!”

Non-issues?

“You know, all this stuff about not bringing Gitmo prisoners in the country because they might escape is just more smoke being blown by politicians trying to scare somebody. We have plenty of homegrown crooks in jail already who are as bad as those guys and nobody is worried about them getting out. We argue about a lot of non-issues in this country.”

Don’t throw it away

“I went to a local TV repair shop the other day about my 47" RCA big screen TV. I was informed that new or used parts could no longer be ordered and I may as well throw the TV away. I asked him if I took it to Valdosta or Albany would I have any luck. He stated that they would not be able to get parts either. I came home and looked in the yellow pages and contacted Bailey's TV in Nashville. He told me that information was incorrect and bring it to him and he would see what the problem was. He called today and said it was ready to be picked up. This man has been in business 47 years in Nashville and appears to be a very good businessman. ...If you need TV repairs (especially a big screen TV) remember Bailey's TV in Nashville before you throw your TV away.”

Good fellow

“An A+ Rave to Jody Hogan of the new Plant Tiftnet . We’re new in town. Even though I have a PhD, I failed computer technology. Jody worked with us until everything blinked, talked, printed, searched and worked in wireless wonder. He is a competent technician and a gentleman. Thank you, Jody. You’re a good fellow.”

Welcome sight

“This morning I was very happy to see a state trooper out on 125 North. When a pickup truck passed my stop sign while it was glowing red and almost hit a little girl, he was right on it. The nice thing about it was, anytime we have to report anything like that we have to have a license plate number and fill out a police report. But it was really nice that he was out there this morning.”

Halloween hosts

“This is a Rave for the girls on Third Street from Halloween. I just want to tell you that my kids enjoyed going by your store and getting candy. Y’all made it so enjoyable for the kids with the way you had the front of your store decorated. You acted like you just enjoyed giving out the candy to them and the pumpkins and all were cute. I’m not from Tifton. I was down visiting my parents for Halloween and for the week and my kids happened to be in town to trick or treat. So just tell the girls on Third that decorate, I can’t even remember the name of the businesses, but just tell them that they did a great job.”
