Please be careful
“I think it's a shame that some landlords don't care who they put in their houses as long as they pay the rent. Because of one uncaring landlord, we now have drug dealers smack dab in the middle of our once-quiet neighborhood. They are on their porch when the children get off the bus trying to talk with them. Landlords! PLEASE be careful about who you put in other people’s neighborhoods. Let them live near you.”
Another Baldwin 500
“I did not see the black Lab get hit on Fulwood Tuesday, Nov. 17th. I arrived immediately after the dog was struck and killed. I did witness the following: I could see there were several vehicles stopped with their emergency flashers on. However, other vehicles were still SPEEDING by the people trying to remove the dog from the center of road. Most of the drivers I witnessed were teenagers and ADULTS on cell phones. It is one thing to SPEED through a residential area while talking on your phone, but to have NO RESPECT for concerned citizens trying to remove a severely injured dog from the road is terrible. ...Speed limit signs are posted for a reason. PLEASE SLOW DOWN! ...Fulwood has become another BALDWIN 500.”
Good intentions
“The City politicians probably meant well when they established CityNet. However, they were naive and uninformed in assessing the potential liabilities involved. You have to know what business you are in. The railroads about went broke thinking they were in the railroad business when they were actually in the transportation business.”
We care
“Spud Bowen, don't make it sound like those defending the CityNet decision are just as bad as those calling for heads to roll. We care about growing the future of the area. It's surely not a negative rant to defend the statement that CityNet did a good job of bringing communications services to Tifton.”
Bravo
“Bravo to the cast and crew that presented ‘Corbian, A Glow in the Dark Adventure.’ It was spectacular. I lived near Chicago for six years and saw many shows of all types there, and this was more innovative and creative than anything I saw there. Also, everyone connected with the show was so cordial. This was an ideal advertisement for ABAC.”
Informative letter
“Mr. Bowen's letter was very informative. I agree with him on all but two points. First, there were no personal attacks printed in the Rants And Raves section of the Tifton Gazette. There were several local elected officials who were criticized for bad policy. These public criticisms were long overdue. Politics is not for the thin-skinned. Second, printing only ‘Raves’ would limit public debate. Limited public debate allowed a bad idea to become a multi-million dollar fiasco. There was no public referendum on CityNet. The voters were not included in the process. If the "Rants" are deleted the editorial page will be 19 pages long.”
