No fireworks
“How do you tell your 10 and 8-year-old children that we won't get to go to Reed Bingham for fireworks this year? We've been going every year since they were born. When people sit in Atlanta and ‘play politics’ with our parks in South Georgia, I get angry. I will vote for those who support our views to save our park and remove the appointed officials that made these decisions! Please join me in November!”
Don’t complain
“Farm subsidies, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and a host of other government programs are vital to our country. However, if you are receiving money from one, or more, of these government agencies then you really can't complain about ‘the spread of socialism.’ It's hypocritical to protest ‘the spread of socialism’ while simultaneously receiving money from socialistic programs.”
Congrats
“Congrats go out to TCRD 11-12 year old boys. They did a great job this year. They placed fourth. Great job to the coaches, D. Roberson, J. Hillmon, and B. Daniels.”
More on gas prices
“The reason for the increase in gasoline is simple. The Republicans brought a lawsuit against campaign finance, and they argued that a law limiting campaign contributions from big corporations and labor unions is a violation of ‘free speech.’ So big oil, big banks, etc., can give unlimited campaign funds for both Democratic and Republican presidential and congressional candidates. Of course, big oil companies don’t want Congress to approve funds for research for solar, wind and geothermal sources of energy. No new sources of energy and the price of gasoline will rise...”
Think again
“If you think the arts are a good place to cut government spending, you're blind to the fact that ‘the arts’ contribute more than $2 million to our struggling local economy or that nearly every education survey shows students involved in ‘the arts’ perform better in school (which means higher paying jobs and more revenue for the state).”
Don’t cut the pie
“Cutting everyone’s pie is not the answer. We need common-sense working class people who know how to live within their means or budget. We need to cut out all these grants. All grants should be illegal. How many of you work all week, give your money away and borrow money to pay your bills?”
Selective reset
“Mr. Perdue wants to ‘reset’ government, but you don't see any proposals to reset the perks and salaries of elected state officials or their political appointees, do you?”
It’s happening
“I want to give a big thanks to the conservative party and the TEA party. They wanted less government. I think their dreams and wishes are coming true.”
