TIFTON — The Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Stallions tennis team fell three times in their nine matches Tuesday at the 2012 NJCAA Division I Men's National Championship tournament being held at the Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas.
With the results, ABAC currently stands seventh overall with 24 points, three points behind three teams tied for first with 27 points.
Of the Stallions' three losses Tuesday, came in three set matches.
Oliver Snaider fell in the No. 1 flight, 6-7(3), 6-0, 3-6, while Richard Symanski fell at No. 6 singles, 7-6(4), 2-6, 4-6.
Danilo Faria at No. 5 singles was defeated 2-6, 1-6 by the top seed in the flight, Caio Gomes of Laredo (Texas) Community College.
Hernan Hatem won at No. 2 singles for ABAC, 6-2, 6-4; Trutz Henssen won at No. 3, 7-6(5), 6-3; and Taylor Hardy won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2. The trio will all face opponents from schools ahead of the Stallions in the naitonal standings today.
Faria and Snaider won at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-1; Hardy and Hatem won at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0; and Henssen and Tim Kueckelhaus captured their match at No. 3, 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.
The No. 1 and No. 3 quarterfinal matches will be big encounters today as the Stallions will also be facing foes from schools ahead of them in the standings.
