Tift County’s Tadric Jackson goes up for two points against Coffee during the Region 1-AAAAA tournament. Jackson and the Blue Devils were defeated 66-65 Friday night by the Valdosta High Wildcats in the region title game. Jackson led Tift with 20 points, 18 in the second half. Valdosta made nine three-point baskets in the game. With the loss, Tift will now host the No. 3 team from Region 2-AAAAA , Westlake. Westlake came in to the Region 2 tournament as the No. 2 team in the latest state poll, but lost in the region semifinals to M.L. King. In that same poll, Tift was ranked sixth. "It's going to be a big one," Tift County Head Coach Dr. Eric Holland said late Saturday night. "They are a pretty good team." The game will be played Saturday evening, but a time has yet to be set. On the girls side, the Tift County Lady Devils will face off against the Stephenson High Jaguars, the Region 2-AAAAA regular season and tournament champion. "They are an excellent team," said Conner. That game will be played at Stephenson either Friday or Saturday. "The game is scheduled for Friday, but they may ask to play a doubleheader, since their boys are hosting a game Saturday, as well," said Conner. Game times will be known Saturday.
