TIFTON —
The Turner County Rebels used big second halves in defeating the Irwin County Indians Tuesday night in Ashburn. The wins gave the boys and girls squads identical 3-0 region marks and 4-1 records for the season.
The Lady Rebels got off to a fast start against the Lady Indians and were up by 10 at the first quarter buzzer, but the visitors pulled it to 30-28 at halftime.
A strong third quarter increased the margin to 10 again and while Irwin outscored them in the fourth, Turner had enough for a nine-point win, 63-54.
Four Lady Rebels finished in double figures for the evening. Anna Cole had 16, Antania Graddic, 14, Zenia Coley, 11, and Mylashia Yancey, 11. Graddic also had 11 rebounds.
Tanedra Hering had 13 for the Lady Indians and Anissia Collins added 12.
The Turner County boys also had no trouble getting the offense started against Irwin. They scored 22 in the first quarter, 21 in the second and 32 in the third. The Indians had 27 points and halftime, but were unable to keep up after the break. They scored 10 in the third, but were held scoreless in the final stanza, Turner being able to breeze to a 88-37 finish.
Two Rebels tied for points lead. Quan Hillmon and Antonio Graddic each had 16. Nyshawn Davis finished with 12.
