TIFTON —
Senior night was not so sweet for the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, whose girls lost to the Deerfield-Windsor Knights, 49-40.
The Lady Panthers came into the game as Region 1-AAA’s top team with a 6-1 mark and would have gone into next week’s region tourney at Darton College as the No. 1 seed as they were a game up on the Lady Knights, but because Deerfield won the most recent contest between the two, they are now the No. 1 team.
Caitlyn Albritton led Tiftarea in scoring with 12 and Jarrett McWhorter scored 10. They are now 13-14 overall.
Tiftarea would lost the boys game, 58-42.
In junior varsity action, the boys dropped their game, 46-23 and end the regular season at 4-7. They were led in scoring by Logan Carswell (12) and Michael Garvey (6).
The Lady Panthers junior varsity squad dominated Deerfield, 40-23 and go in to the JV tournament undefeated, 11-0. Maci Paulk scored 10 and Caroline Mann and Carson Bryan each had six.
