Firebirds to have
tailgate party
TIFTON — The Georgia Firebirds will have a 4 p.m. tailgate party Saturday to get ready for the team’s 7 p.m. contest against the Duval County (Fla.) Cowboys.
Traebean will perform at halftime of the game, which will be played at Brodie Field.
Eighth Street
golf team
competes
TIFTON — The Eighth Street Blue Devil golf team competed Monday at Country Oaks Golf Club in Thomasville.
The Blue Devils defeated Thomas County Central, 181-187.
Austin Deloach led Eighth Street with a 44. Other scorers were Joseph Spinks, 45; Ty Gore, 46; and Zach Forshee, 46.
Eighth Street then won again Tuesday in a tournament in Valdosta.
Eighth Street scored a 154, followed by Hahira, 158; Colquitt County, 163; and Pine Grove, 168.
Spinks shot a 1-under par with a 35 to lead Eighth Street.
Gore finished with a 37, while Jeremy Deen and Deloach each scored with a 41.
Next tournament will be Monday in Moultrie, as the Devils take part in the Baby Packer Invitational.

Lady Devils play Region 1-AAAAA opener tonight
The Tift County Lady Devils will open up the Region 1-AAAAA basketball tournament tonight at 6 against the Coffee High Lady Trojans.
That game will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by the Colquitt County High Packer-Coffee High Trojan boys contest.
The entire region tournament will be played at the Tift County High Arena. -
Lady Panthers advance to GISA state playoffs
The Tiftarea Lady Panthers will play Stratford Academy in Macon Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. as they advance to the first round of state. Beating Calvary of Columbus Tuesday night, the Lady Panthers had to play the Deerfield Windsor Knights Friday in the region semi-finals held at ABAC.
