Courtney Albritton of Tiftarea Academy, Berrien’s Aaron Dobbs and Nick Williams of Fitzgerald are the nominees for The Tifton Gazette Athlete of the Week.
Voters can decide the winner of the honor by going to The Tifton Gazette Web site at www.tiftongazette.com. Over 1,400 votes were cast last week.
Albritton, the catcher for the GISA Region 3-AA Champion Lady Panthers softball team, batted 8-for-11 this week to lead her team offensively, including a 3-for-3 effort in the region clincher over Southwest Georgia Academy. She also played well on defense and threw out several base runners.
Dobbs, a receiver and defensive back for the Berrien Rebels football team, made eight catches for 69 yards in a 30-3 loss to Thomasville Friday. His catches included a one-handed 24-yard grab that set up first and goal for the Rebels.
Williams had a dominant performance in the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane football team’s 30-3 win over previously unbeaten Dodge County. The fullback had 21 carries for 244 yards.
