TIFTON — The Hurricane blew away the Indians of Albany 56-0 Friday night on the road. PJ Pruitt scored first on a 25 yard Brad Taylor pass. The extra point made the score 7-0.
With 2:11 left in the first quarter, Hurricane runner Dion Ross carried the ball in from 13 yards out. With a good PAT, Fitzgerald increased their lead to 14-0.
At the end of the 1st, Nick Williams punched it in from 7 yards out to cap the quarter, 21-0.
In the second quarter, Williams found the endzone again on a 10 yard carry with 8:06 left stretching the Hurricane lead to 28-0. Williams continued his streak with a 20 yard TD run leaving the score 35-0. With 16 seconds left, Corey Taylor hauled in a 75 yard interception for a touchdown, leaving the score 42-0.
With 6:34 seconds left in the third, Taylor found the endzone on a 14 yard run. The extra point made it 49-0.
Fitzgerald would finish its scoring on 56 yard Larry King touchdown run finishing the Indians off 56-0.

Barrentine does well on junior rodeo circuit
Brady Barrentine competed this past weekend in the Southern Junior Rodeo Finals in Ocala, Fla. This was his first year competing in the SJRA's rodeo season. He competed all year long in the breakaway roping, tie-down calf roping, team roping, ribbon roping and chute dogging.

Blazers win NCAA Division II national softball title
The Valdosta State Blazers are the 2012 NCAA Division II Softball National Champions after an impressive 4-1 victory over defending champion UC San Diego. The championship is Valdosta State’s sixth overall championship and first in softball. The win also marks the first softball national championship for the Gulf South Conference.

Courtney Albritton named All-American
Albritton took VSU and the entire Gulf South Conference by storm in just her freshman season. She was named the GSC's Freshman and Player of the Year while leading the conference in most categories.
