TIFTON — One team averages 39 points per game, and allows only seven per game. The other team averages 36 points per game, and yields only 9 points per game.
Sounds like the makings of one great game.
Fitzgerald and Brooks County will meet up with a possible region title on the line.
The Purple Hurricane and the Trojans are 4-0, one game up on the Thomasville Bulldogs, who are currently 3-1.
A win over Fitzgerald would essentially clinch the championship for Brooks, as they would be up virtually two games over Fitzgerald and Thomasville — due to their head to head wins over both teams — while the Purple Hurricane still has to play Thomasville, who could still win the region with some breaks.
Fitzgerald defeated Early County last week, 21-6 in a game that saw the Hurricane rush for 272 yards on 31 carries.
“We didn’t play the greatest because of injuries and such, but those new players competed and played hard,” Fitzgerald head coach Robby Pruitt said.
“But I tell you what, Early is a very good 0-6 team. They have some athletes.”
Trenton Pruitt scored two touchdowns for the Fitzgerald, and Nick Williams added a score as well for the undefeated Hurricanes.
Pruitt has been very impressed with Brooks County so far this season.
“They have dominated every team they have played with the exception of Turner, and in that game (a 26-21 Turner win), Brooks was without their running back, defensive end and defensive tackle,” Pruitt said.
The Fitzgerald head coach says that the Trojans have two great attributes.
“They have a lot of size, and speed everywhere. Their quarterback (Jeremy Cody) is a great athlete, and they have that big fullback (Arlestor McKinnon). They come right at you with the I-formation, and they have 17 senior starters, so they are very experienced,” Pruitt said.
According to Pruitt, the Hurricanes will have to do two things to defeat their region rival.
“We have to play sound on offense and not turn the ball over, and we cannot let them run away from us on offense as they have done all year long.”
Game time in Fitzgerald is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Barrentine does well on junior rodeo circuit
