TIFTON — The Tift County High Lady Devils gymnastics team captured first in its first meet of the year held this week.
The meet saw Tift defeat Thomas County Central and Bainbrige.

“We have embroidered D2 in pink on our warm up jackets in her memory,” Roberts said.
The competition featured 30 participants, including 13 from Tift County High.
Tift freshman Beth Roberts was the first-place finisher in the all-around category, while teammate and fellow freshman Libby Barbour took third-place in the all-around.
To earn the all-around title, Roberts was first on the vault with a 9.55, first on the bars with a 9.2, fourth on the beam with a 9.05 and first on the floor with an 8.85.
Barbour placed second on floor and bars, third on the beam and fourth on the vault.
Sophomore Ashley McLeod won the beam with a 9.7, and took third on the bars.
Senior Kristen DeJong was fourth on the floor, while junior Emilee Roberts was fifth in the vault, as well as the floor.
Freshman Jayde Cowart placed sixth on vault and freshman Courtney Coleman placed fifth on bars.
