TIFTON — Taylor Price hit a two-out, two run home run to put Tift County up 4-3 in the third inning and Sy Crumley pitched a complete game to lead the Devils to an 8-3 win over Houston County Friday night at the Devil Diamond.
With the win, the Devils improved to 6-5 overall, and 1-2 in Region 1-AAAAA play.
Houston loaded the bases in the top of the first with two outs, but Crumley retired Tyler Hall to end the threat.
Tift scored a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning, when Cole Janousek led off with a single, Tyler Hobby earned a walk and Seth Mann followed with a single to load the bases.
After a Houston strikeout, Janousek scored on a pass ball, followed by a single from Tate Bullar d to score Hobby from third.
Houston’s Thomas Brown then hit a two-out, 3-run home run off Crumley to left field to give the Bears (5-4, 0-3) a 3-2 lead.
The Bears picked up the runs with two outs in the inning.
Price would follow with a home run in the third inning, driving a long shot near the batting cage in left field with two outs to put the Devils up for good.
Crumley did a nice job on the hill, throwing 106 pitches, including 65 for strikes.
The senior struck out eight and hit two Bear batters to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Tift added four two-out runs in the fourth inning , as Hobby, Price and Hayden Jones each drove in a run.
With an 8-3 lead, Crumley would retire the final six batters.
Price, Jones, Janousek and Ryan Bragg each added two hits for the Devils, while Brown had two hits for the Bears.
Tift will travel to Moultrie to face Colquitt County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Packers fell 6-2 against Warner Robins. Both teams are now 2-1 in region play.
NOTES: Houston County had two players, starting pitcher Clint Wynn and designated hitter Dalton Carriker, who played on the Warner Robins Champion Little League team from 2007.

Barrentine does well on junior rodeo circuit
Brady Barrentine competed this past weekend in the Southern Junior Rodeo Finals in Ocala, Fla. This was his first year competing in the SJRA's rodeo season. He competed all year long in the breakaway roping, tie-down calf roping, team roping, ribbon roping and chute dogging.
