Turner destroys Telfair, Coley hits 1,000

CNHI

TIFTON — Zenia Coley reached a milestone for the Turner County Lady Rebels and both teams made a massacre of the Telfair County Trojans in Ashburn.

Coley’s second layup of the night gave her 1,000 points for her career. She would finish the evening with 12. In the meantime, Turner raced out to a 28-2 lead after the first eight minutes.

Telfair’s big quarter would be the second. Six points fell through the net, but even then they would be outscored by 10. The second half saw the Lady Trojans score only four points while their hosts racked up 37 for the 81-12 win.

Other than Coley’s 12, Turner got big scoring nights from Antania Graddic (21) and Mylashia Yancey (10). Graddic also had 10 rebounds. The Lady Rebels are now 15-3, 9-0 in Region 2-A.

Telfair did not find the evening any easier in the nightcap. The Rebels were up 14 after one and 33 at the break.

The scoring would slow down some in the third quarter, but the onslaught continued in the fourth, as Turner turned in quarters of 10 and 17 points while the Trojans only managed 10 total.

Only Shaquille Baldwin reached double figures with 10, but five of his teammates scored at least seven.

Turner is off until next Tuesday, when they play the Irwin County Indians in Ocilla.

The boys are ranked sixth and the girls third in the latest power rankings.
