War Eagles end Tiftarea’s season

TIFTON — The Tiftarea Academy Panthers were eliminated from the state Class AA football playoffs Friday night with a 16-6 loss against the Brentwood School War Eagles.

Tiftarea was held to 233 total yards of offense in the game.

Playing in his final game, senior Chandler Hammond led the Panther offense with 103 yards rushing on 12 carries. He also accounted for the only Tiftarea touchdown on the night.

Quarterback Wes Carter was 6-for-13 passing for 69 yards. He also had four rushes for 21 yards.

Clayton Dukes had two catches for 25 yards, while Sumner McWhorter had one catch for 16 yards, and seven rushes for 26 more yards.

Clay Tapp had three catches for 34 yards. He also averaged 41.3 yards per punt on the night.

Justin Brooks also had four rushes for 28 yards, and Chad Bowen carried the ball four times for 17 yards.

The Panthers end the year with a 5-5 record.
