TIFTON — The Eighth Street Middle School Lady Devil basketball teams split a pair of games Tuesday with Valdosta. The eighth grade Lady Devils won by a 33-25 score, while the seventh graders fell 28-18.
Alexis Johnson led the eighth grade Lady Devils with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Jessica Savage added eight points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists; while Tatianya Smith had seven points and five steals.
Other contributors to the win were Staceyanna Murrell with five rebounds, and Yakima Strawter with four rebounds.
Callie McAllister and Rebecca Sexton each had four points for the seventh grade Lady Devils. Frankeisha Hill and Kaleigh Hobby added four rebounds apiece.
Hahira will be Thursday’s opponent with the eighth graders playing on the road, while the seventh graders will be at home.
Game time will be 4:30 p.m.

Tift County Lady Devils win region swim title
History has been made for Tift County High School as the girls swimming and diving team won the Region 1-AAAAA title Saturday in a battle against region foes Coffee, Lowndes, Colquitt, and Valdosta High. This is the first region title for the girls swim team.
