Stallions earn first conference win
TIFTON — ABAC and head baseball coach Steve Janousek earned the first conference win of the season, with a thrilling, walk-off 4-3 win over Georgia Perimeter Sunday at Stallion Field.
Pinch hitter and Turner County alum Jeremy Stevenson got a one out, walk-off double, scoring Andrew Arp to give the Stallions the victory.
Ikaika Anderson and former Tift County Blue Devil Brooks Martin each had two hits apiece to lead ABAC.
Ben Massey earned the pitching win. The sophomore pitched a complete game, allowing nine hits and three unearned runs, while striking out six.
On Saturday, the Jaguars defeated the Stallions 8-5 and 12-6.
In Game 1, Patrick Daugherty had three hits, including a pair of homers, while Jon Spell added two hits.
In Game 2, Daugherty had a home run and double, while Aaron Turner went 2-for-2.
The Stallions (1-2 in conference) will host Three Rivers (Mo.) at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Newton wins at Lake Blackshear
TIFTON — The Tifton Bass Busters fished at Lake Blackshear Saturday.
Ed Newton continued his domination of the lake with his second straight victory there.
Newton’s bag tipped the scales at 14.02 pounds. Chad McMurrian finished second with 11.86 pounds.
Twenty members made the trip. The club will travel west to Lake Eufaula in April.
Spinks, Jarrett lead Tift to two wins
TIFTON — Led by Brooke Spinks and Brittany Jarrett, the Tift County girls golf team won the Bear Invitational in Warner Robins and the Trojan Invitational in Leesburg Monday
At the Bear Invitational, Spinks earned low-medalist honors after carding a 75. Jarrett scored an 81, as Tift defeated Thomas County Central, LaGrange and Colquitt County in the 12 team event.
On Monday, the Lady Devils took first, as Jarrett shot an 80 and Spinks had an 84. Tift defeated Thomas County Central, Lee County and Colquitt County.
Tift will play Northside March 24, before hosting the Blue Devil Invitational on March 29.
Devils’ JV win soccer match
TIFTON — Led by a pair of goals by Christian Taucar, the Tift County JV soccer team blanked Lee County, 4-0.
Lawson Darnell and Esequiel Vazquez also scored for Tift. Jorge Villalobos, Crystian Cordova and Miguel Damien provided the assists.
The Devils will play at Valdosta on Thursday.
Diamond Devils fall at Lee
TIFTON — Lee County defeated Tift County’s JV baseball team 5-1 on Monday in Leesburg.
Cole Bennett, Drew Davis, Jordan Nipper, Guy McClung and Tyler Carver each had a hit. Bennett had the Devils’ only RBI.
McClung took the hard-luck loss, allowing only one earned run in the game.
The 5-3 JV Devils will play Northside on Saturday.

Lady Devils play Region 1-AAAAA opener tonight
The Tift County Lady Devils will open up the Region 1-AAAAA basketball tournament tonight at 6 against the Coffee High Lady Trojans.
That game will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by the Colquitt County High Packer-Coffee High Trojan boys contest.
The entire region tournament will be played at the Tift County High Arena. -
Lady Panthers advance to GISA state playoffs
The Tiftarea Lady Panthers will play Stratford Academy in Macon Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. as they advance to the first round of state. Beating Calvary of Columbus Tuesday night, the Lady Panthers had to play the Deerfield Windsor Knights Friday in the region semi-finals held at ABAC.
