SAVANNAH — Jenny Cox of Valdosta, formerly of Tifton, and Larry “Woody" L. Poston Jr. of Lake City, S.C. were united in marriage during a ceremony March 28 at The Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah with the Rev. David Simmons of Greenville, S.C., officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Fonda Ellerbee of Valdosta. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry L. Poston of Lake City, S.C. Music for the ceremony was provided by New Arts Ensembles of Savannah, was a four-piece string ensemble. The altar was decorated with ferns set on white columns. Guests sat on white wooden chairs accented with white hydrangeas tied with light blue bows.
The bride was escorted by her brother, Chip Cox, of Valdosta. She wore a white floor-length ball gown with a beaded bodice, beaded spaghetti straps, and a full tulle skirt with detachable train. She carried a bouquet of white roses with miniature grape hyacinths wrapped in light blue ribbon.
Kristie Wiggins Cox of Valdosta served as matron of honor wearing a sleeveless, knee-length cornflower blue taffeta dress tied at the waist with a fabric sash. Jamie Yarborough of Effingham, S.C. served as a junior bridesmaid. She and the three flower girls, Madison Cox and Sarah Cox of Valdosta and Ashley Yarborough of Effingham, S.C., wore white, sleeveless floor-length chiffon gowns by Strasburg. Each dress had a light blue, satin sash with their monogram in white thread. Both of the bride’s attendants carried bouquets to match hers and the flower girls dropped white rose petals.
The groom’s father, Larry L. Poston Sr., served as best man with groomsman, Kevin Poston of Marion, S.C.
RECEPTION
Following the ceremony, a reception was given by the bride and groom at the Viennese ballroom at the Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah. Before the reception, guests were offered hors d'oeuvres and beverages. Guests then enjoyed a seated lunch. There was a bride's cake and groom's cake and a chocolate fountain display which included milk, dark and white chocolate.
As guests left, they could help themselves to a candy buffet done in the wedding colors of light blue, light green, and white.
The bride and groom made their grand exit in a horse-drawn carriage before enjoying a western Caribbean cruise for their honeymoon. The bride and groom reside in Citrus Heights, Calif. The bride is employed as a registered nurse by Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif., and the groom is employed as a registered nurse by Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, Calif.
