Mary Lorene Crumley of Ty Ty and Nathan Ross Cox of Alpharetta were united in marriage during a double-ring ceremony at 6 p.m. June 12, 2010 by Pastor Jim Duggan at First Baptist Church of Ty Ty.
The bride is the daughter of Greg and Peggy Crumley of Ty Ty. She is the granddaughter of Mary Jo Gibbs of Ty Ty, Gene Crumley of Wintersville and the late Glen Gibbs and Lorene Goodwin Crumley. The groom is the son of Ross and Cynthia Cox of Alpharetta. He is the grandson of Ross and Nancy Cox of Cumming, John Cook of Decatur and the late Charlotte Guest Cook.
The bridal couple's moss covered initials accented with ivory chiffon bows decorated the front doors of the church and white hydrangeas were placed in the planters on the porch. Inside the sanctuary, pews were marked with wide ivory satin bows, green hydrangeas, white wasflower and ivory roses in silver cones. The altar was decorated with ferns flanked on iron columns. Focal point was an arrangement of white roses, white larkspur, Green bells of Ireland, white and green hydrangeas, white lilies and greeneries. Iron candelabra were placed among the ferns with pillar candles. The banisters were covered in fresh greenery of plumosa fern and sprengeri fern. In memory of grandparents pillar candles were lit in glass cylinder vases.
Musicians included organist Frankie Cottle and vocalists Hope Moore and Taylor Hand. Moore sang "A Mother’s Prayer" as the mothers were seated, while Hand sang "Holy Ground" to begin the ceremony and "Surely the Presence" performed during the lighting of the unity candle. The Rev. B.J. Funk shared in inspiration reading prior to the lighting of the unity candle.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, and wore a halter style Stephen Yearick gown of ivory satin and a two-tiered cut edge veil accented with pearls and crystals. The box pleated ball gown was embellished with a hand-beaded waistline and a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of Stephanotis, green hydrangeas, ivory Vandella roses and was looped with lily grass. Stems were wrapped and tied with ivory satin ribbon held by pearl heads.
Alyssa Gangone, sorority sister of the bride, served as maid of honor with Kristen Watford and Courtney Cox, sisters of the groom, Anna Sowell and Hope Moore, childhood friends of the bride, and Sinclair Anderson, sorority sister of the bride, serving as bridesmaids. The bridesmaids wore full-length charcoal taffeta gowns and carried bouquets consisting of green hydrangeas, ivory Vandella roses and loops of lily grass. Macy Jones, Summer Bennett and Hope Crumley, cousins of the bride, served as program attendants and Rachel Fabiniak, sorority sister of the bride, presided at the bride’s book table.
Travis Cox, brother of the groom, served as best man with Dave Watford, brother-in-law of the groom, Sy Crumley, brother of the bride, Justin Boggs and Blake Ivy, childhood friends of the groom, serving as groomsmen. The groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos with charcoal gray vests and ties.
Dylan and Jada Dent, children of James Perry and Calysta Dent of Jesup, served as the ring bearer and flower girl. Jada wore a sleeveless ivory tea-length dress with a coordinating charcoal taffeta sash accented with a rhinestone brooch. She carried a floral kissing ball and Dylan wore a matching tuxedo as the groomsman.
The bride's mother was attired in a floor-length, pewter laced overlay dress. The groom's mother wore a black floor-length deep v-necked dress. Both mothers carried small hand-held mussie tussie bouquets of ivory sweetheart roses, white waxflowers and lily grass with small satin ivory bow.
RECEPTION
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a reception at the Arts and Heritage Museum on Love Avenue in Tifton.
Moss covered initials of the couple's names were hung on the entrance doors. Guest tables were covered with white and ivory linens. Fresh centerpieces of purple, green and white adorned the centers of tables. The stage area was decorated with ferns and ivory bows, along with fern and monstera leaves. A large floral arrangement in purple, green and ivory shades flanked the buffet table. Large matching candelabra with fresh flowers and candles were placed on the beverage table. Floral arrangements consist of green hydrangeas, purple stock, purple iris, ivory stock, and ivory roses, purple monti casino, and green hypericum berries. Ferns were placed throughout the reception hall. A tent was placed on the lawn with bistro tables and round tables for the guest. Lanterns were hung and placed in the garden area.
Jane McPherson greeted guest while Garrison Jones, uncle of bride, welcomed guests and pronounced a blessing upon the occasion. Upon entering the hall, the couple had their first dance to “Have I Told You Lately” by Rod Stewart performed by September Haze, who provided the music for the evening. The bride and her father, along with the groom and his mother shared a dance to “My wish For You" by Rascal Flats, also performed by September Haze.
Guests enjoyed a buffet featuring boiled Gulf Coast shrimp, grilled and fried chicken tenders, hand-carved roast beef, hashbrown potato casserole, marinated whole green beans wrapped in bacon, pasta salad, strawberry spinach salad, broccoli salad and assorted fruits, cheeses and breads by Cynthia Harrison. A white candy table was available for guests to fill their treat bags and locally bottled honey was presented to guests as favors from the bride and groom.
The bride’s cake was a five-tier stacked, square wedding cake created by Marla Moore. Every other tier was elegantly decorated with ornate scroll work. The cake was topped with fresh flowers and a hand crafted "C" initial created by Mr. Greg Tucker, the cake was presented on a matching forged base. Leah Sowell, Marla Moore, and Genene Waller, friends of the bride, presided over the bride’s cake.
The groom’s cake was a Carnegie Deli Cheese cake topped with a replica of the Georgia Tech's Rambling Wreck, alma mater of both bride and groom. Jimmy and Ann Grubbs, both friends of the bride and groom, presided over the groom’s cake.
After the couple’s last dance, guests lined the walkway with an archway of lighted sparklers as the newlyweds departed.
After honeymooning in St. Lucia, the couple now resides in Kennesaw. The bride is continuing her studies at Kennesaw State University. The groom is employed with Enercon, Inc.
