Dunn, Peed

MACON — Jillian Dyan Dunn and Silas Mikell Peed were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church in Macon. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Dwight Dunn of Tifton. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Mikell Clate Peed of Macon.  The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edd W. Dunn, Mrs. Royce A. Jones and the late Royce A. Jones, all of Tifton. The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Peed of Statesboro and the late Dr. and Mrs. Walter P. Barnes Jr. of Macon.

The groom’s uncle, the Rev. Roland Barnes, performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father, and wore a Casablanca gown of champagne beaded lace over silky taffeta and a three-tiered veil. The dress featured a V-neckline front and a back with a slim A-line silhouette and a chapel train. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses created by Allison Lucas. Tucked into the bouquet was a handkerchief with the bride’s new initials and wedding date made for her by the groom’s mother. She wore stud pearl earrings given to her by her parents and her mother’s pearl bracelet. The bride’s garter was made for her by her mother with the couples’ names and the wedding date stitched inside. In honor of her late grandfather, Royce A. Jones, the bride wore his Auburn University Golden Eagle pin in the crinoline of her dress.

The bride’s attendants wore navy-colored full-length silk dresses by J. Crew. Deidra Jackson of Tifton, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, with Julee Beth Dunn of Tifton, also a sister of the bride, serving as maid of honor. The bridesmaids included the groom’s sisters, Rebekah Dawson of Brandon, Miss., and Susanna Peed of Macon. The bride’s cousin, Becca Jones of Tifton, and the groom’s nieces, Anna Kate Peed and Helen Peed, both of St. Charles, La., served as program attendants.

The groom chose his father, Dr. Mikell Peed, as his best man. His groomsmen included his brothers, Mathew Peed of St. Charles, La., Seth Peed, Caleb Peed, Asa Peed, all of Macon, and the bride’s brother, Austin Dunn of Tifton.

RECEPTION

Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a reception in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church. Before joining the guests at the reception, the bride and groom shared a private dinner. Upon entering the reception, the couple had their first dance to “These Arms of Mine” while guests enjoyed a barbecue buffet featuring pulled pork, grilled chicken, potato salad, baked beans, macaroni and cheese and corn salad by Fancy Pig Catering.

The wedding cakes were created by the groom’s sister-in-law, Elizabeth Peed. The center cake was a traditional wedding cake with buttercream icing and was surrounded by two smaller cakes that were key-lime and strawberry flavored, also iced with buttercream.

In lieu of a groom’s cake, the couple served the groom’s favorite ice cream treat, Klondike Bars, while guests danced to the sounds of DJ Kelly Collins.

After the couple’s last dance, they departed while being showered by “Seeds for the Peeds.” Guests received small packets of “Seeds from the Peeds” as a gift from the bride and groom.

After honeymooning in Punta Cana, the couple now reside in Forsyth. The bride recently graduated with her master’s degree from Georgia College and State University and will be teaching at Mount de Sales Academy in the fall. The groom is self-employed with D.I.M. Landscaping LLC.
